Man sentenced to 15 years in prison
First-time offender sentenced to 15 years imprisonment.
A 22-year-old man will be spending the next 15 years behind bars for house robbery and possession of stolen property.
First-time offender Benny Motshwene recently learnt about his fate at the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court. According to Sunnyside police spokesperson Sergeant Asnath Malatsi, Motshwene was found with a stolen diamond ring which belonged to an 89-year woman from Sunnyside.
“Thank you to the neighborhood watch of Sector 6. They have done a good job in reporting this criminal activity,” Malatsi said.
Malatsi said residents should not turn a blind eye when witnessing criminal activities.
“The community should alert police about any suspicious activities because they act as our eyes and ears in our absence.”
Malatsi warned criminals their acts would eventually get them into trouble. “The community of Sunnyside and the police are working together to combat crime and no one will escape,” she concluded.
