Alleged robbers cause accident
A man apparently chased robbers and was forced off the road ends up in an accident.
Alleged robbers apparently caused an accident in Sefako Makgatho Drive (Zambesi) north of Pretoria on Saturday afternoon.
This, according to the public that posted messages on Facebook, happened when a resident saw the alleged robbers and gave chase.
“Someone’s handbag was grabbed at a retail park. A member of the public gave chase when the suspects drove off in a vehicle. During the chase the vehicle in persuit of the suspects was involved in an accident,” Vernon Smith, deputy chairperson of the Kolonnade CPF said.
The accident happened at the entrance of Zambesi Country Estate, where the vehicle persuing was apparently pushed of the road by the suspects and hit a wall at the entrance.
Smith said the culprits still managed to get away.
Another resident, Gerhard Janse van Rensburg said he was busy with a photo shoot when he heard gun shots outside.
“The people I was taking photos of fell down when we heard the gunshots.”
Constable Sam Shibambo, cluster spokesperson could not confirm the incident as there was no case yet opened at the police station.
“There were talks of the incident but nothing has been reported to us. We cannot at the moment confirm anything.”
