Police on the lookout for four cash-in-transit robbery suspects
Police are looking for suspects involved in a cash-in-transit robbery.
Ga-Rankuwa police are on the hunt for four suspects who robbed an SG4 cash van at an Engen garage in zone 15 on Wednesday morning.
The alleged suspects stormed the Engen garage around 10:00, fired several shots at the cash van and stole an undisclosed amount of money.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Mathews Nkoadi said the suspects disarmed the crew, stole the money and made off in a white VW Polo sedan that had been parked at the filling station before the robbery.
“Said vehicle was found abandoned in Mapetla section, Ga-Rankuwa a few hours after the robbery,” he said.
According to Nkoadi, no one was injured during the robbery. All suspects were armed with pistols while one of them who fired shots was wielding a rifle, believed to be an R5, according to witnesses.
“We are appealing to members of the community who might have witnessed the robbery, or who might have knowledge of the suspects, to assist us by calling our Crime Stop number 0860010111 or Our SMS crime line 32211,” he said.
