Police hunt for pastor

Police on the lookout for the pastor who fed his congregation live snakes.

The Ga-Rankuwa police are on the hunt for the controversial pastor who fed his congregation live snakes.

Penuel Mnguni (24), or Prophet Penuel Mnguni, as he calls himself, made headlines when he fed members of his End Times Disciples Ministries in Soshanguve live snakes, alleging that the snakes would turn into Chomp chocolates.

The Tshwane SPCA had spoken out against the incident. SPCA inspector Mishack Matlou confirmed to Rekord that a case of animal cruelty had been opened at the Ga-Rankuwa police station and that a warrant of arrest had been issued.

“This pastor says he wants to show the power of God by using snakes and we as the SPCA are against this. We have asked pastors to help raise awareness against animal cruelty and pastor Penuel is doing the opposite,” he said.

“We went with the police to Soshanguve to arrest Mnguni. When we arrived he was not at his congregation. We haven’t found him, but are on the lookout,” he added.

Ga-Rankuwa police spokesperson Captain Rheineth Motlana confirmed that police were looking for Mnguni. “The police are investigating the case, and a warrant of arrest has been issued for the pastor.”

She asked that anyone with information on his whereabouts to phone the Ga-Rankuwa police on 012-797-8800/01.”
