Snake-feeding pastor still to appear in court
Prophet Penuel, known for feeding his church members live snakes, would appear in court on Monday for animal cruelty.
The controversial snake-feeding pastor, Prophet Penuel Mnguni was expected to appear at the Ga-Rankuwa Magistrate’s Court on Monday, despite media reports that the 24-year-old was released on R1500 bail.
This after the Tshwane SPCA and the police arrested Mnguni in Soshanguve on Saturday on charges of animal cruelty.
The prophet made headlines last week when he fed his congregation live snakes at his End Times Disciples Ministries church, claiming they taste like Chomp chocolate.
According to Tshwane SPCA Inspector Mishack Matlou, Mnguni was currently in court awaiting his appearance.
“We are still in court. We will give a full update once the suspect has appeared.”
Matlou criticised the pastor’s actions.
“This pastor says he wants to show the power of God by using snakes and we as the SPCA are against this. We have asked pastors to help raise awareness against animal cruelty and pastor Penuel is doing the opposite.”
