Centurion man killed in armed robbery
Man killed in business robbery on Saturday night.
A 33-year-old Centurion was killed in an armed robbery on Saturday night.
The man died in the Steve Biko academic hospital after he had been shot during an armed robbery.
Lourens Botha, vice chairman of Lyttelton CPF and chairman of Lyttelton CPF sector 2, said six armed men robbed a store on the corner of Station Road and Botha Avenue on Saturday night.
One man was shot and another hit over the head by the robbers. The wounded man was taken to Steve Biko hospital where he later died from extensive injuries.
The six robbers fled in a red vehicle with an undisclosed amount of money. They were fleeing in the direction of Tembisa on Botha Avenue in what was believed to be a red Corsa.
Lifemed spokesperson Jolindi Weideman said they brought the critically injured man to hospital on Saturday night but he later died. She said he had extensive gunshot wounds to his upper body.
Police spokesperson Asnath Malatsi confirmed the incident. She said a case of business robbery and attempted murder is being investigated.
