The Johannesburg Flying Squad and the K9 Unit arrested 16 criminals for a business break-in on Sunday morning.
The break-in occurred just before 09:00 in City Deep.
The arrested men, aged between 18 and 35 years, allegedly told the security at the gate that they were there to pick up a consignment.
The police said on their official Facebook page that the 16 men proceeded to load 90 boxes containing tobacco products into the two trucks that they had arrived in.
Police were alerted to the situation. While the men were still in the process of loading the goods, police arrived and arrested all 16 men.
A consignment of tobacco with an estimated street value of R14 million was recovered. Police in addition also seized 11 cellular phones belonging to the suspects. Upon searching the trucks the men arrived in, police found 9 packets of dagga in the cockpit of one of the trucks.
