Tshwane impose water restrictions

The use of water in Pretoria was restricted with immediate effect on Thursday due to high demand.

New water restrictions were imposed on the entire Tshwane metro on Thursday.

Spokesperson Selby Bokaba said water supply was under severe strain due to increased demand.

“The increased water demand is caused by high temperatures,” he said.

“Temporary water restrictions will therefore be implemented across Tshwane with immediate effect on Thursday.”

Under the water restrictions, the following activities were prohibited between 06:00 and 18:00:

– Watering/irrigating gardens with hose-pipes or sprinkler systems.

– Washing vehicles with hose-pipes.

– Filling swimming pools.

Bokaba said: “Should the above restrictions not be adhered to, the situation may worsen and even last longer.”
