Presidency monitoring SA citizens in Paris

The South African government joins the international community in condemning the Paris terrorist attacks.

The Presidency said it will report to Pretoria on the well-being of South African citizens in Paris after a terrorist attack on Friday.

At least 128 people were killed and 180 were injured in a deadly wave of bombings and shootings across Paris, which the French President Francois Hollande, denounced as an ‘act of war’.

The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack.

Presidency spokesperson Clayson Monyela said the South African Embassy in Paris was closely monitoring developments.

“[We] will report to Pretoria as soon as information is available on the well-being of South African citizens.”

President Jacob Zuma conveyed his deepest condolences to France President Francois Hollande, strongly condemning the terrorist attacks.

“South African stands firmly with the rest of the international community in its condemnation of attacks targeting innocent civilians and reiterates its stance that terrorism, in whatever form and from whichever quarter, cannot be condoned.”
