298 detained in the north

Police arrested scores of criminals during an operation at the weekend.

Some 298 people were arrested at the weekend during a massive crime prevention operation in the Ga-Rankuwa cluster.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Matthews Nkoadi said suspects were arrested in connection with various crimes.

“They were detained for car hijacking, attempted murder, rape, armed robbery, possession of stolen property and possession of dagga, among others.”

He said all would appear at either the Ga-Rankuwa, Soshanguve or the Pretoria North Magistrates Court soon.

“These kinds of operations will continue for the remainder of the festive season,” Nkoadi said.
