A man died while entrapped in his car after he collided with a taxi on Saturday night.
One person was killed and seven injured when a car collided with a taxi in Arcadia on Saturday night, SMART Medics Ambulance said.
Spokesperson Sello Kekana said the deceased man was trapped in his Volkswagen Polo on Johan Street and Pretorius Street.
“The casualty in the Polo was trapped with very serious injuries. Our emergency care technician and the Tshwane fire brigade tried to rapidly extricate the casualty from his vehicle. Regardless of everyone’s effort, it was found that the male casualty had no signs of life any more due to extensive injuries,” he said.
Seven taxi passengers were injured and were transported by various services to hospital for further medical care, he said.
“The cause of the accident is unknown and was handed over to Tshwane metro police and forensics to investigate. SMART Medics Ambulance Service sends condolences to the family and friends of the deceased,” Kekana said.
