Robber shot dead in Centurion
Two were arrested after a shootout on Burger Avenue, Lyttelton following an armed robbery on Monday evening.

A robber was shot dead and a house owner wounded in a robbery in Burger Avenue, Lyttelton, on Monday evening.
Garsfontein police spokesperson Warrant Officer Dave Miller two of the robber’s accomplices were arrested after the shooting. A fourth man escaped.
He said four men gained access to the Burger Avenue residence.
“The men were in the process of taking jewellery from the woman when the husband confronted them,” said Miller.
He said there was a shootout and one of the robbers was hit. He died on the scene.
The other two men were arrested not far from the house with the help of response teams, and the fourth robber managed to escape.
Miller said the robbers were in their late teens and early twenties.
“One firearm was recovered at the scene.”
Miller said police would investigate whether the men were part of some larger syndicate.
He said the husband was hit in the chest, and the wife’s arm was injured. Both were taken to the Netcare Unitas hospital.
OrangeFox spokesperson Vanessa Jacobs said a number of response firms responded to the armed robbery on Monday night after shots were fired.
She confirmed two men were arrested.
“Lyttelton police, MonitorNet, Lyttelton sector two CPF members also responded to the scene.”
