Shop owner beaten to death
A shop owner tied up and beaten to death in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
A shopkeeper was beaten to death in Daspoort in the early hours of Tuesday.
Police spokesperson Captain Bonginkosi Msimango said police received a call around 00:40 about an abandoned vehicle in Andeon.
“Police went to the scene and they found the vehicle in Erma Street. They traced the owner and called him.”
It turned out that he was the business partner of the murdered man and that the car had been stolen from the parking area of the shop.
“The owner took the police to the shop on the corner of Jennings and Redelinghuys streets and when they arrived it was locked.”
Msimango said the owner asked police to break down the door and that the lifeless body of his partner was found tied up.
“The man’s hands were tied with a yellow tie and his feet with an electrical cable. When police got there, the man was dead.”
Hercules CPF acting chairperson André Kruger said something was put in his mouth and he was beaten to death.
Msimango said items were stolen from the shop.
The police were investigating.
