Eight men robbed a filling station in the early hours of Thursday morning, after their attempt to bomb an ATM failed.
Villieria police spokesperson Captain Koba Brits said eight men armed with long rifles attempted to get to the cash in the ATM by bombing it just after midnight in Elardus Park.
“The men [then] held petrol attendants at the Engen in Delmas Road in De Villa at gunpoint before fleeing with cash from the till to the amount of R 1 500.
Brits said no injuries were reported
Bull Security spokesperson JP Griesel said when Bull Security arrived, the thieving eight had fled the scene.
He said most of the petrol attendants were forced to lie face down on the ground during the ordeal.
Griesel said the attendants could only call for help after the eight men left.
