Pretoria Central Cluster police held an operation on Tuesday focusing on 16 Days of Activism.
The Pretoria Central police cluster ran a successful operation on Tuesday in the Hercules precinct in support of the 16 Days of Activism against women and child abuse.
The SAPS, metro police and Hercules CPF had a roadblock in Van der Hoff Road, Zandfontein to promote road safety and crime prevention.
Police spokesperson, Captain Bonginkosi Msimango said Operation Basadi saw the police stop and search vehicles, issue fine for traffic rule violations and distribute awareness pamphlets.
“One hundred and eighteen vehicles and 80 pedestrians were searched and 25 traffic fines to the value of R16 500 were issued,” he said.
He said seven people were arrested for drinking in public and three were arrested for urinating in public.
“Police gave crime prevention tips against house and business robbery, burglary and theft of motor vehicles as well as drug awareness messages,” explained Msimango.
He said that 500 pamphlets were handed out during the roadblock.
Msimango said the operation started on 25 November and ended on 10 December.
