Man arrested after fleeing with bike during test drive

A man was arrested on Saturday after he stole a motorbike from a dealership during a test drive.

A man was arrested in Waterkloof Ridge on Saturday, after he was found with a motorbike stolen from a BMW dealership three weeks ago.

Hi-Risk Unit spokesperson Arthur Crewe said the man had taken the motorbike for a test drive from a dealership in Sandton.

The man never returned.

“The dealership contacted us for assistance. The man had filled out certain paperwork and his address was in the Waterkloof area,” he said.

Crewe said Hi-Risk members spotted the motorbike on Saturday morning. He had changed the registration plate.

“Our guys followed him to his house and some members closed him in and he was arrested by Brooklyn police.”

Police were not available for comment at the time of publishing.
