NEWSFLASH: Tshwane metro officer arrested over bribe

Tshwane metro police officer was arrested on Saturday for soliciting bribes from motorists.

A mere R100 could cost a Tshwane metro police officer her job after she was caught soliciting a bribe from a motorist.

The metro officer was arrested on Saturday on the Moloto road north of Pretoria, the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) said on Saturday.

“The officer was arrested by the RTMC’s national anti-corruption unit on Saturday afternoon,” the RTMC spokesperson Simon Zwane said.

“She allegedly solicited a R100 bribe from an undercover anti-corruption officer who was monitoring the conduct of officers on this road.”

Zwane said that the anti-corruption officers were still processing the matter and more details would be provided later.

The RTMC’s anti-corruption unit had deployed officers throughout the country to ensure officers and motorists conduct themselves properly.
