Tips on saving someone who is drowning

Consider these tips if your ever come across someone who is drowning.

Every year people lose their lives due to drowning. Over the past year in Pretoria, many drowning incidents have been reported where lives were lost or saved, mostly involving children.

ER24 encourages the community to learn to swim, since most drowning accidents occur because people do not know how to swim or swim poorly.

“People are urged to be careful. Remember anyone, even those who can swim, is at risk of drowning. Risk-taking and overconfidence in one’s swimming ability may play a significant role in water-related deaths,” Christa Bodasing, ER24 spokesperson said.

Bodasing urged people to consider the following tips on how to save someone who is drowning:
