Two attackers arrested
Two men arrested for stealing a cellphone and wrist watch from someone known to them.
An attack on a man accused of having an affair has led to the arrest of two others in Mamelodi East.
Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Michael Mbewe said the initial charge was laid at the weekend but the culprits, aged 24 and 30, were only taken into custody on Tuesday.
“The suspects are well-known to the complainant. On Saturday, one of them turned against the complainant, accusing him of having an affair with his girlfriend,” said Mbewe.
“The suspect allegedly pushed the complainant to the ground while at the same time unleashing heavy blows to his body and face.”
Mbewe said the man escaped to a nearby safe area where he sat in a car. The two men arrested were determined to find him, so they tracked him down and smashed the windows of the car he was in.
“The complainant further alleged the attackers kicked him all over his body forcing him to run to the police. He said the suspects allegedly took some of his belongings including a cellphone and wrist watch.”
Mbewe said the arrested men would appear in the Mamelodi East Magistrate’s Court soon.
