Cable theft attempt leaves parts of Centurion in the dark on Friday
Attempted cable theft left many without power in parts of Centurion on Friday.
Wierdapark and surrounding areas in Centurion woke to darkness on Friday morning, following an attempt at cable theft at the Wierdapark substation that led to a power outage.
Tshwane metro issued a statement that said the city’s team of technicians are currently on site and are busy with repairs.
The metro said power was estimated to be restored by 18:00 on Friday.
Wierdapark, Eldoraigne Rxtension 6 and 9 and a few streets in Raslouw were some of the areas affected by the power outage.
More power outages were identified throughout the city and are being attended to, according to the metro.
Aramis Street in Menlyn remained without power on Friday due to damaged voltage cables.
The metro said the fault point had already been identified and technicians were attending to the fault.
“It is estimated that power supply would be restored later in the afternoon,” said the Metro.
