Three men were arrested on Monday morning, after they were found in possession of stolen property on the R55 road in Erasmia.

Police spokesperson Constable Tumisang Moloto said valuable items were found in their vehicle.

“Police were patrolling the R55 at 02:00 when they spotted a suspicious looking Nissan Almera on the road with four men inside. Police followed the vehicle and signalled the driver to pull over,” he said.

“Police searched the vehicle and found two Samsung plasma TVs and other electrical devices.”

Moloto said all four men failed to give police any proof of purchase.

“The suspects were immediately arrested for possession of suspected stolen property, but one fled on foot,” he said.

Moloto said further investigations revealed that a case of business burglary at Marylone Mall had been opened at Wierdabrug police station.

“It is suspected that the stolen items were taken in the burglary.”

The three men are aged between 29 and 34. A case of possession of suspected stolen property was opened,” Moloto said.

“Police appeal to the public for any information that can lead to the arrest of the escaped suspect. We urge the public not to approach the suspect, but rather contact their nearest police station if he is seen.”
