Police were on Thursday still searching for the hijackers who shot and killed a Centurion-based man in Tembisa.

Ekhurhuleni metro spokesperson Chief Superintendent Wilfred Kgasago said the man was shot and killed at around 15:00 on Friday when he was hijacked in Mqantsa Section in Tembisa.

He said police were still investigating how the man was gunned down, after his vehicle was stolen.

“The 37-year-old Centurion man was driving a Chevrolet SUV,” said Kgasago.

He said it was suspected the hijackers were after the load of boxes of cigarettes found in the vehicle.

“The vehicle was recovered an hour later in Oakmoor Ext 7 in Tembisa.”

Police after finding the vehicle tracked it back to a residence in Centurion.
