Double murder suspect denied bail
A man who murdered two women in Winterveldt was denied bail in the Ga-Rankuwa Magistrate's Court.

A 26-year-old man who brutally murdered his girlfriend and her cousin in Winterveldt on Tuesday, has been denied bail.
The accused was arrested the same day after he hit his girlfriend and her cousin on the head with a hammer, and stabbed
both of them several times in the upper body.
He appeared in the Ga-Rankuwa Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
“He was denied bail. His case has been remanded to 21 February,” said police spokesperson, Constable Petunia Chabangu.
After killing the two women, the man then called his girlfriend’s mother telling her where to find her daughter’s body.
“He struck both of them with a hammer on the head and stabbed the girlfriend more than 15 times in the upper body. The cousin was stabbed nine times in the upper body and the head,” Chabangu said.
Both women were 20 years old. He fled to his family in Winterveldt, near Dube police station, taking the couple’s two children, aged two and three.
