Robbers left empty handed after swift response

Two men fled empty handed on Tuesday when they were caught within minutes after a break-in in Wierda Park.

Two robbers who broke into a house in Wierda Park were denied the spoils of their labour by a quick response to the alarm by private security guards.

Copwatch, Monitor Net, Scorpion Risk Service and Centurion Concerned Citizens (CCC) responded within minutes and had the robbers trapped inside the house in Roedtan Avenue on Tuesday morning.

“Copwatch, Scorpion and Monitor Net had the house surrounded,” said CCC spokesperson Hannes du Buisson.

He said the men escaped by breaking a window and jumping over walls empty handed.

“One was arrested,” said Du Buisson.

Police spokesperson Captain Agnes Huma said the second intruder was still at large.

“A case of house breaking with unknown intention is under investigation. Nothing was taken. The suspect will appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court soon.”
