Two arrested after hijacking
A high speed chase erupted in Centurion after two men hijacked a woman’s vehicle in Rooihuiskraal.
Two men have been arrested in possession of a stolen vehicle and firearms in Winnie Mandela township, Tembisa after a high-speed chase on Friday afternoon.
Orange Fox security spokesperson Vanessa Jacobs said the men earlier hijacked a woman’s Audi A6 in her Rooihuiskraal driveway, Centurion.
“The men rapidly fled the scene in the stolen vehicle.”
She said the men were spotted by community police forum (CPF) sector 2 members while driving through the residential area.
CPF members gave chase, leading to Old Johannesburg Road where OrangeFox security joined the pursuit.
Jacobs said the pursuit continued as the hijackers sped towards Tembisa.
“The men sped along Old Johannesburg Road towards Olifantsfontein, ultimately crashing at the Winnie Mandela section in Tembisa.
“The two men driving the stolen Audi crashed into something and this caused them to ultimately lose control of the vehicle,” Jacobs said.
She said one of the men attempted to flee from the crash scene but residents assisted in catching the hijacker.
“The community was furious and attempted to punish the robber,” she said.
OrangeFox officers managed to defuse the situation and arrested the two men and took them to Wierdabrug police station.
“The men were in possession of two firearms,” she said and thanked CPF sector 2 members for their arrest of the hijackers.
