No hail expected despite insurance alerts

No hail was expected in Pretoria despite warnings from insurance companies, the South African Weather Service said.

The SA Weather Service denied claims of possible hail in Pretoria after various insurance companies issued alerts of thunderstorms and hail.

Forecaster Madimetja Thema said thunderstorms were expected towards Mamelodi and Cullinan on Monday evening but with no hail.

“There is no large amounts of hail expected. Motorists however should be warned of possible flash floods on the road,” he said.

Temperatures would remain cool until Thursday with partly cloudy conditions and a 30% chance of rain and thundershowers.

No rain was predicted from Friday to Sunday as a low amount of moisture was expected for that period.
