A man believed to have been the mastermind in the recent State Security Agency theft is to appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Hawks spokesperson Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said he was arrested on Friday.

This was the third arrest in connection with the recent R17-million theft at the agency in Pretoria.

Mulaudzi said the man handed himself over to police after the Hawks released his photo last Tuesday and appealed to the public for information on him.

A substantial reward was offered for such information.

Two other men linked to the theft appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court last week.

Khayalethu Mgatyelwa and William Mmotong made a brief appearance last Tuesday and the matter was postponed to 18 February.

Mulaudzi said Mgatyelwa was out on bail but Mmotong remained in custody, awaiting his bail application which had been set for Monday in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court.
