Man arrested twice on Wednesday
Hi Risk Response Unit arrested a man twice in possession of stolen property on Wednesday in Sterrewag, Pretoria.
A man was caught twice with stolen goods in his possession in Sterrewag, Pretoria, on Wedenesday.
He was released because of a lack of solid evidence after his first arrest, said Hi Risk Response Unit spokesperson Arthur Crewe.
He said the unit responded the first time after a complaint was reported in Sterrewag.
“Two men pushing recycling trolleys were spotted and abruptly started running,” said Crewe.
“We apprehended the two men and they were handed over to Brooklyn police.”
After finding no solid evidence against the two, the police released them.
Crewe said it was around lunch when CPF and Hi Risk members spotted the two again while on patrol.
“The men again were in possession of trolleys with more items this time around. It seemed the men had broken into a house.”
The two men started running again and the Hi Risk and CPF members gave chase.
“We chased the men for three blocks and arrested one of them after he ran through a school property,” said Crewe.
“The second man got away, but we know where he operates and strongly believe we will arrest him very soon.”
Crewe said laptops, gaming devices, a laptop mouse and other items were found in the trolleys.
The captured man was handed over to police.
