Missing ex-cop found dead

A missing ex-policeman has been found dead in Soshanguve.

A former Soshanguve policeman has been found dead after he was reported missing on Saturday.

Mafa Johannes Kgasu’s body was found on Tuesday night, said police spokesperson Seargent Tembi Nowathe. He was 55 years old.

Passers-by spotted the partially decomposed corpse in an open field in Block DD, Soshanguve.

“Residents contacted police and a medical examiner’s report indicated that Kgasu had been dead since Saturday,”

Nowathe said Kgasu left his home in block DD, telling family members he was going to buy them food.

“His car, a Toyota Hilux was later spotted at Sosh Plaza, unattended and with the goods he went to buy still inside.”

Nowathe said the car had apparently been parked there for almost the whole day.

While family members were at the police station reporting a missing person, Kgasu’s car disappeard from Sosh Plaza.

“The car was later traced to a guest house in Marivate Section in Winterveldt,” Nowathe said.

It is not known how the car got to the address where it was later found.

People working at the guest house told police they saw some nyaope boys parking the car there and leaving it.

“There was no gun or knife wound to his body, but his body was partially decomposed,” Nowathe said.

The cause of death has not been determined.
