Four people were injured when escaping hijackers crashed into the vehicle they were travelling in in Rosslyn.
Two men had earlier hijacked a brand new BMW on the R566 as it was being transported from the dealership, police spokesperson Warrant Officer Matthews Nkoadi said.
“The armed men, who were on foot, approached the driver of the BMW and forced him out of the car at gunpoint. They jumped in and sped off.”
However, the men collided with a Toyota Venture at an intersection near the Akasia police station injuring its four occupants.
The injured were taken to hospital and the Akasia police immediately arrested the hijackers.
“The men suffered injuries and face charges of hijacking, possession of a suspected stolen vehicle, possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition as well as reckless driving,” said Nkoadi.
