A man was allegedly forced to withdraw cash from an ATM in Silverton on Thursday night by two suspected robbers.
An eyewitness, Keegan Holms, told Rekord that he saw how a bloodied man was forced by two men to withdraw cash from the ATM in Pretoria Road.
“He had no shirt on, no shoes and he was full of blood.”
Holms said the robbers took the victim’s bank card and forced him back into the car.
The robbers then sped off with the victim still in the car.
Holms took photographs of the vehicle and decided to chase the suspects.
“I followed them for about 20 minutes before I lost track of them. They were driving up one street and then down another, making it hard to follow them.”
They apparently fled in a westerly direction.
Holms contacted the police as well as the Silverton Community Patrol Association (CPA).
Silverton CPA spokesperson, Jan Pretorius, confirmed the incident.
The CPA along with the police found a tyre this morning that allegedly belongs to the missing vehicle.
“The suspects drove with a flat tyre and lost it on the corner of Fontein Street and Pretoria Road.”
Pretorius said the CPA as well as the police were searching for the vehicle and the victim who went missing.
The vehicle’s registration number is ZJP 554 GP.
Police could not yet be reached for comment.
