Man held hostage and beaten by hijackers

A man was found unconscious after he was allegedly hijacked and assaulted in Midrand on Friday.

A man was taken hostage in a hijacking on Friday before he was found badly assaulted and unconscious.

Centurion Concerned Citizens (CCC) spokesperson Hannes Du Buisson said the 36-year old man was taken hostage on Friday in Midrand in a hijacking incident.

According to the CCC Facebook page, the man, identified as Promise Mokhube, was found unconscious, badly beaten and remained at an undisclosed local hospital.

He said no more information about the whereabouts of the mans’ vehicle could be obtained as the vehicle, a gold-coloured Jeep, registration number DW68VWGP, was still missing.

Police could not be reached for comment.
