Police and Fidelity security vehicles crash

An unmarked police vehicle and a Fidelity bakkie collided near the CBD on Saturday.

Two law enforcement officers were injured when a Fidelity security vehicle and a police car collided on E’skia Mphahlele Drive.

Best Care Ambulance spokesperson Xander Loubser said this happened around 21h00 at the W.F Nkomo Street intersection.

“One of the vehicles crashed into the other when it skipped a red robot.”

He said the police offer had an open head wound and injuries.

The Fidelity officer sustained leg and back injuries, Loubser said.

“Two other cars were also involved in the accident but no one was injured.”

The officers were treated at the scene and taken to a nearby hospital.

Police are investigating the cause of the collision.
