Man survives shooting and stabbing

A man was saved by a bullet proof vest after intruders shot and stabbed him in the chest.

A man survived two gunshots and a stabbing when he found intruders on his plot on Friday night.

Best Care Ambulance spokesperson Xander Loubser said this happened on Cornelia Road.

“The man caught people on his plot trying to steal sprayers when he was attacked.”

He said the man was shot twice and stabbed.

“Was it not for the bullet proof vest he was wearing, he’d probably be dead.”

A resident who asked to remain anonymous said the man was stabbed on his back.

She said the matter was reported to Hercules police as a business robbery and not a case of assault.

“The knife broke into the plates of the vest,” she said.

She said the man was a member of the Hercules community safety association.

Police could not be reached at time of broadcast.
