Constable back in court over cop killing

A police constable that was arrested in connection with the killing of a police officer would reappear in court next week, the Hawks said.

A police constable will back in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court next week in connection with the murder of a senior officer killed in his Moot home last month.

Constable Rishen Rampashard of the Pretoria West police would appear in court on Thursday next week, Hawks spokesperson Lieutenant Robert Netshiunda said.

He was arrested last month and remained in police custody.

Lieutenant-Colonel Reinier Logois was found dead in his Moot home on 20th Avenue with 14 gunshot wounds.

His car, a silver Toyota, was found several kilometres from his home two days later.

His brother Hennie said the slain cop was involved in a love triangle shortly before his murder.

He said Logois (42) had lived with his ex-girlfriend, a former station commander at the Pretoria West police, in the house where he was murdered.

He claimed Rampashard and the former station commander were lovers.

“My brother had seen Rampashard, on several occasions, driving the woman’s car after they had broken up. We don’t know why he was killed. The family is not taking this well.”
