Several people were attacked and robbed by bogus police operating along Van der Hoff Road in the west of Pretoria in the past few days.
The first victims were Best Care owner Kobus Bester and a motorist. They came under attack in separate episodes.
Bester was brutally beaten during a robbery in Van der Hoff Road near Hartebeespoort on Tuesday night.
His son, Xander Loubser told Rekord on Wednesday that Bester was recovering well in hospital even though he had to go for a scan.
The attack happened when Bester was pulled over by a white VW Golf flashing blue police lights.
“As he stopped, two men attacked him and stabbed him in the face, head and left arm. He fought off the robbers with a knife but he was kicked in the ribs before the assailants ran off,” Loubser said.
Loubser said a man stopped and called Best Care for help after he saw Bester on the floor covered with blood.
Evelyn Van der Merwe told Rekord on Wednesday her mother (Alta Lenting) and her friend were nearly robbed near Amazingwe Lodge in Hartbeespoort, apparently by the same vehicle.
“My mom and friend were driving towards Amazingwe Lodge when a white VW Golf flashed it’s blue lights. Two men instructed them to stop but my mother and friend thought it was weird as they hadn’t done anything wrong.”
Van der Merwe said her mom and her friend tried to ignore perpetrators but the men kept following them.
‘Luckily they were a few metres away from the lodge and manage to get to the lodge. The men disappeared thereafter,’ she added.
According to our sister publication Kormorant a motorist and his passenger were also robbed off their vehicle and belongings by presumably the same VW Golf on Van der Hoff road near Ten Rooms.
Police could not be reached for comment immediately.
