Suicide man was homeless

Police investigation into death of man found hanging from tree outside popular restaurant still underway.

A man who hanged himself outside Oppiplaas restaurant in Pretoria at the weekend was homeless at the time of his death.

Villieria police spokesperson Captain Koba Brits said the man’s next of kin had been informed of his death.

“It appears he was homeless at the time of his death,” said Brits.

“We cannot reveal his identity as yet.”

The man picked a tree near the water canal next to the restaurant on Valentine’s Day morning. He was found with his ID book on him.

The investigation into his death is underway.
