Police are searching for two men who randomly rob and assault people in the Annline area, north of Pretoria.

Sinoville police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk, said the two targeted pedestrians.

“They would walk up to individuals in the street and ask for a cigarette. Regardless of whether the person gives them a cigarette or not, they would attack and rob them,” Van Dyk said.

“They mostly seem to target pedestrians walking home from work late in the afternoon.”

Residents in the area were warned to be on the lookout for suspicious people and not to speak to strangers especially when walking alone.

“Police success depends on the community. Reporting crimes and providing police with helpful information will allow us to catch the criminals plaguing the community,” Van Dyk ended.
