Police launch manhunt for West shooters

Police still on the hunt for two men involved in shootout.

Police shot dead a fugitive in the west of Pretoria on Monday after a dramatic chase through the city.

Two other men escaped, said police spokesperson Constable Tumisang Moloto.

“These men have long been targeting people across the city,” said Moloto.

“One of their most recent victims gave police a description of the suspects. They had robbed him of an undisclosed amount of cash at the Quagga shopping centre.”

An alert was circulated to police in the city. Police officers spotted their Volkswagen Caddy in Church Street and gave chase. The three men were cornered in Danville.

A shootout ensued and one of them was fatally wounded.

The two others escaped in their vehicle.

Police recovered unlicensed firearms at the scene.

Moloto urged anyone with information on the two men to report to the nearest police station.

“We urge extreme caution, as these men are considered armed and dangerous. Phone the police if you see them. Do not approach them.”
