Police still searching for mother of dustbin baby
Police investigation into mother who left her dead baby in a Moot dustbin is still underway.
Villieria police are still searching for the mother who dumped her dead premature baby in a dustbin in a Moot complex last week Friday.
Villieria police spokesperson Captain Koba Brits confirmed to Rekord that the investigation into the death of the baby was still ongoing.
“Anyone with information on what happened should contact the Villieria police station and report what they know,” said Brits.
The baby was found at the Sunderland complex in Shilling Street in a black dustbin, still wrapped in the placenta.
Complex caretaker André Hutter said on Friday : “Our gardener had just opened the dustbin when he saw the baby. He called me and we saw that it was a premature baby, still in the placenta. We called the Villieria police, who responded swiftly.”
He said this had never happened before at the complex, adding that the gardener was left horrified by what he had seen.
“We can only be thankful the baby was not put in a bag, otherwise the gardener might not have seen the body.”
Villieria police can be reached on 012-333-6871.
