A man shot and wounded a worker at a restaurant at the Kimiad Golf Course in Moreleta Park on Wednesday morning

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Dave Miller said this happened around 8:00 before the restaurant opened.

“The suspect walked into the restaurant and found only employees inside as the restaurant was still closed. He took out a gun and shot one of them before fleeing the scene.”

Miller said the man was hit in the upper chest near his shoulder.

“The employee is in hospital while the suspect is still on the run. We have launched a manhunt to find the suspect.”

The motive for the shooting was not immediately clear.

Netcare 911 earlier said the shot employee was in a critical condition.

“The 24-year-old man was transported to a nearby hospital under the care of an advanced life support paramedic for further medical care,” spokesperson Athlenda Mathe said.
