Tips to reduce hijackings

After a recent spate of hijackings, security firms have come out to offer useful tips to motorists and residents on how and what to do in hijacking situations.

The ADT security firm has issued tips to in a bid to reduce the hijackings and teach motorists how to deal with hijackings.

This follows a spate of recent hijackings in Centurion.

An elderly lady was attacked with a hammer in her driveway and another shot in the leg in a similar incident in the area.

ADT district manager of the northern region Leon Muller said the firm wanted to enlighten people on what to look for.

He said homeowners where the most vulnerable when they arrived home.

“With over 60% of all hijackings taking place close to home, knowing what to look out for and how to prevent falling prey to hijackers is a very pertinent topic,” he said.

“Being aware of your surroundings and knowing how to respond if you find yourself in a hijacking are critical.”

The ADT partnered with another anti-hijacking firm the national hijack prevention academy to offer motorists the following safety tips:
