ATM bombed in the West
An ATM was bombed in the west of Pretoria on Thursday morning.
An ATM was bombed on the corner of Mitchell and Souter streets in Pretoria West in the early hours of Thursday.
Spokesperson for Pretoria West CPF Thesigan Pillay said they had unverified reports about the incident. “According to unverified reports, at about 03:30 on Thursday morning a Standard Bank ATM was bombed. It is also reported that about 21 shots were fired,” he said
Pillay said it was not yet known whether any money had been taken from the ATM or whether anyone had been injured. He expressed concern at the increase of of ATM bombings in the area.
“This is very worrying because this type of crime is on the increase. The CPF is going all out to help the police with their investigations and ensure that the perpetrators of this act are brought to book. We urge the community to come forward with any information they may have in relation to this crime,” he said.
The police were still on the scene conducting investigations by 08:30 on Thursday.
