Classes at the University of Pretoria was once again suspended on on Tuesday after violent protests and clashes on campus.

Security around the campus was beefed up, with staff keeping a close watch.

“Management is planning on resolving the issue with the parties concerned so that academic activities at the university can continue.”

Protests and violence has been plaguing the institution for the past week.

They were sparked by the Economic Freedom Fighters” students command demanding that Afrikaans be scrapped as a language of instruction at the university.

On Monday, protests turned violent as pro-Afrikaans and members of the #AfrikaansMustFall movement clashed on campus.

Several students were reportedly injured and social media was rife with bloody scenes.

Pro-Afrikaans parties are planning a peaceful march from Loftus Versfeld stadium on Tuesday morning in their own campaign named #AfrikaansSalBly.
