Crash leaves two critical
Two people were in a critical condition after a truck and a light motor vehicle collided,
Two people were critically injured in an accident on the R55 in Centurion on Tuesday evening.
Reports from the scene indicated that a truck and a light motor vehicle collided, Netcare 911 said.
Spokesperson Athlenda Mathe said paramedics stabilised the injured on the scene.
“The Netcare 911 helicopter was dispatched to the scene to airlift a critically injured man to a Johannesburg hospital for further medical care.”
The other injured person was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital, Mathe said.
“Police will investigate the cause of the accident,” she said.
Emer-G-Med said they found a truck had T-boned a car in the middle of the intersection, leaving the driver and passenger in a critical condition.
“The driver was rapidly extricated and stabilised on the scene before being rushed to a nearby hospital under advanced life support care,” said spokesperson Braam Kruger.
“The vehicle was so badly damaged that it took the Tshwane metro’s fire department over 40 minutes to free the critically injured passenger. They used the Jaws of Life and other specialised hydraulic rescue equipment.”
