Burglar shot and wounded

A burglar was shot and wounded in Mountain following an attempted house robbery.

A man was shot and wounded in an attempted house burglary in Mountain View on Wednesday morning.

Police spokesperson Captain Agnes Huma said three men attempted to break into a house before the owner fired a shot at one of them.

“The complainant heard a dog barking… at 02:10 in the early hours of Wednesday. He then noticed three men inside his backyard,” Huma said.

“Two of the three suspects managed to get away…but the third suspect approached the homeowner. As he got closer, the owner fired a shot at the suspect, and he was struck in the left side of his body.”

Huma said the burglar was taken to hospital where he is recovering under police watch.

“A case of attempted murder and attempted home burglary was opened at the Hercules police station. The two other suspects are still on the run,” Huma said.

According to a reliable source, the burglar started hitting the owner with a crowbar before he was shot.
