NEWSFLASH: Flash floods kill three in accidents
Three people died in two accidents during the flash floods on Thursday.

Three people were killed and three people injured in separate accidents in Pretoria West on Thursday after flash floods in the city.
The accidents occurred in Pretoria West, in Vom Hagen Street and the second accident on the corner of Ludritz Street and Van der Hoff Road, Claremont.
Bertie Hutchinson of Unique Recovery said two Toyota Hilux bakkies collided in Vom Hagen Street.
“This spot is dangerous in wet conditions. The corner on Vom Hagen Street between Rebecca and Transoranje streets is always filled with a pool of water when it rains. On Thursday evening one vehicle was travelling from the west to the east and the other in the opposite direction. One of the vehicles hit the puddle of water as it tried to turn. That is when the driver lost control and the two cars collided,” he said.
The accident was not the first at that scene during wet weather.
“This was not the first fatal accident under such conditions. Neither will it be the last. However people must always be cautious when driving in wet conditions on that road and anywhere else,” said Hutchinson.
The injured person was taken to Kalafong hospital.
In the other accident which occurred in Van der Hoff Road in Booysens, Best Care ambulance paramedic Albert Jansen van Nieuwenhuizen said one person died on the scene while two were rushed to hospital.
“One of the drivers said he did not know what really happened before the accident. But the other said they suspected the car slid in water resulting in the fatal crash. Unfortunately a woman in one of the cars died on the scene although we tried to resuscitate her. Two people were injured in the accident and rushed to hospital,” he said.
