Police continue with clean-up operations in Sunnyside

Sunnyside police arrested 31 people on Wednesday for various crimes.

The Sunnyside cluster managed to make several arrests during a clean-up operation on Wednesday.

A joint operation by Sunnyside police, Tshwane metro police, the CID and Waste Management swept through Sunnyside, searching 120 people and arresting 31.

“During the operation, 25 people for loitering, two for possession of dagga and four were illegal immigrants,” Sunnyside police spokesperson Sergeant Asnath Malatsi said

Other items found during the clean-up included a 54cm television, cameras, 14 bundles of copper and electrical wire, dagga, 21 unused syringes and two small zip-lock bags containing nyaope.

Melatsi confirmed the operations would continue until the streets were safe.

The arrested were expected to appear in court soon, Melatsi said.
