Man arrested for robbery

A man was arrested after he broke into a house in Stinkwater.

A 36-year-old man was arrested for a robbery at at Stinkwater house on Tuesday evening.

According to police spokesperson Constable Herman Moremi, the man robbed a trust farm in Stinkwater on Monday.

“The victim alleged she was asleep when she heard a sound coming from dining room. She went to check and saw an unknown man outside cutting the security gate with a bolt cutter.”

Moremi said the woman ran to the children’s room.

“The man and his accomplice eventually gained entry and pointed a firearm at the victim, demanding money.”

They fled with a cellphone and a plasma TV. Both men were wearing balaclavas, Moremi added.

“Police traced one suspect and recovered stolen property which included three plasma TV’s, three DVD players, a speaker, a music system and a computer. The other suspect is still on the run”

Moremi said the man was expected to appear in the Moretele Magistrate’s Court soon.
