Jacques Blaauw eyeing Investec Cup glory

Centurion golfer Jacques Blaauw hopes to do well in the upcoming Investec Cup.

Jacques Blaauw is another Centurion golfer eyeing glory at this year’s Chase to the Investec Cup.

The prestigious tournament takes place at Millvale Private Retreat between 9 and 12 March.

Blaauw has set his goals for the tournament.

“I want to go out there and win the tournament, that is my main goal right now. It is a big thing. So every golfer involved knows how important this cup is. I am excited to be part of it and I just need to get myself into this week so I can be prepared,” he said.

Blaauw also commented about the importance of winning a major tour.

“It is not just about winning or the prize. It is about elevating your career. For us, a win will give you a huge boost and also ensure you qualify for a place in upcoming tours.”

The 16th ranked player for the Investec Cup started his professional career in 2008 at the age of 22 and has since made a name for himself on the Sunshine Tour.

“It has been a good seven years for me and I am happy with what I have achieved so far. My goal now is to feature regularly in the European tours.”

Blaauw, who is also part of the Els club, has won three majors so far and in 2015 he finished second place in the Tshwane Open.

He also thanked Investec for such a nice platform to start his career.

“We are thankful for Investec for launching this tournament and hopefully it will continue for many years to come.

The winner of the tournament takes home R4 million and will receive an invitation to the Puerto Rico Open.
